E85 FLEX-FUEL MOTORBIKE CONVERSION

SWITCH TO E85 FOR MORE PLEASURE

E85 Flex-Fuel conversion for motorbikes involves adjusting the engine mapping parameters, enabling your two-wheeler to run on ethanol (E85), unleaded petrol or a mixture of the two. This modification ensures effective management of the characteristics of ethanol compared with those of petrol. It offers flexibility in the choice of fuel, while preserving the original reliability of the motorbike. This approach allows motorcyclists to benefit from the economic and ecological advantages of E85, without compromising the performance or reliability of their vehicle.

WHY CHOOSE BETWEEN ECONOMY AND PERFORMANCE?

At Shiftech, we understand that motorcyclists are looking for both economy and increased performance. It's with this in mind that we've developed the E85 Flex+ conversion. Much more than a simple conversion to ethanol, this reprogramming incorporates a Stage 1, designed to improve the power of your engine.

It's the promise of more fun at the wheel while saving money.

THE ADVANTAGES OF BIO ETHANOL CONVERSION

Ecology Ecology

converting to bioethanol means using a predominantly renewable fuel that reduces consumption and dependence on fossil fuels. Its production is more environmentally friendly than that of petrol. Driving on ethanol reduces pollutant emissions by an average of 50%. Turning to bioethanol also means supporting local agriculture and the French economy.

Savings Savings

The price of E85 is around half that of petrol. Even allowing for a 20% increase in fuel consumption, choosing this solution is still worthwhile. For a motorbike with an average fuel consumption of 7 litres/100 km and driving 20,000 km a year, the saving is around €1,000. The return on investment from the conversion is therefore achieved in just a few months.

Flexibility Flexibility

Converting to bioethanol means you can drive with a clear head. You don't have to worry about finding a station that offers E85. Flex-fuel conversion makes your motorbike compatible with ethanol, petrol or a mixture of the two fuels, in any proportion. The lambda sensors on your two-wheeler allow it to adapt automatically to the chosen fuel.

E85, BIOETHANOL, ETHANOL, SUPERETHANOL, A RENEWABLE FUEL

Bioethanol, an environmentally-friendly biofuel, is produced from renewable sources such as sugar beet, sugar cane, maize and wheat. These plants, rich in sugar or starch, are transformed into an environmentally-friendly fuel.

E85, often called superethanol or bioethanol, is a blend of this biofuel with traditional petrol.

How do I convert my vehicle to e85 flexfuel?

Ethanol conversion can be carried out on most motorbikes fitted with an engine. There are two main methods for converting your engine to run on bioethanol.

Electronic ECU reprogramming involves modifying the parameters of the engine management ECU to optimise the operation of the injection and ignition systems according to the fuel used. This is the most effective and economical solution. If your vehicle is not compatible, you can turn to a box. The ethanol boxes we offer enable your petrol vehicle to be converted to Superethanol E85.

DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT E85 CONVERSION?

Bioethanol E85 is a fuel made up of ethanol (varying between 65% in winter and 85% in summer) and unleaded petrol. Ethanol is produced by fermenting the sugars and starch contained in sugar beet, cereals and their processing residues. French E85 bioethanol is made from French raw materials, in distilleries located close to farms. Not to be confused with E10 unleaded 95 fuel, which is made up of 10% ethanol and 90% petrol.
The main advantage of E85 superethanol is its economic benefits. With a price at the pump that is generally lower than that of SP95-E10 or SP98, it offers users substantial savings over the long term, especially for heavy drivers. On average, bioethanol costs less than €0.90 a litre, compared with €1.75 a litre for unleaded petrol, an increase of €0.85
Ethanol conversion can be carried out on most petrol vehicles with indirect or direct injection engines. There are two main methods for converting your engine to run on bioethanol. Electronic chiptuning of the ECU or the conversion box are the two alternatives.
There are many advantages, but the main one is cost savings.

Yes, converting your vehicle to bioethanol is profitable in 2026. Recent years have seen high volatility in fuel prices, including Bioethanol E85. By 2022, this fuel was costing an average of €0.74 per litre, before reaching an average price of €1.11 per litre in France in 2023, an increase of almost 50%. Since then, prices have stabilised considerably: the average price per litre of Super thanol-E85 will be 0.75 euros on 8 April 2026. At the end of March 2026, SP95-E10, the fuel most popular with the French, stood at around €1.985 per litre. This represents a saving of more than 1 euro per litre in favour of E85, even before taking into account the benefits of conversion
