BMW E90 - Shiftech Xperience: the official drifter for the 2026 CFD season
As you may have seen a few days ago, we launched our project to recruit a drift driver for the 2026 French drift championship season through our Shiftech Xperience Drift Series programme. Today, we unveil the car that will take part in the CFD 2026, a BMW E90 prepared for drifting. Yes, you read that right, a 5-door has caught our eye for a very special project never before seen in the French championship. This is not a simple car preparation project. This is the official car that will be entrusted to the winner of the Shiftech Xperience drift competition to contest the entire 2026 season of the French Drifting Championship (CFD).
The aim is to create a truly professional drifting machine, capable of withstanding extreme battles while offering a unique immersive passenger experience.
Shiftech Xperience Drift Series: a drifting competition unique in France
Before we go any further, we'd like to tell you a bit more about our project. The Shiftech Xperience Drift Series is a unique talent-spotting programme open to both on-track and sim racers. through a series of physical and virtual selections, Shiftech aims to reveal the future benchmark driver in French drifting.
The concept is clear:
- Technical and physical selections on track and/or simulator
- National semi-finals and finals
- Direct access to a full season of drifting in CFD Pro 2026
This drift competition is aimed at both experienced enthusiasts and emerging talent looking to make the step up to professional competition.
A BMW E90 Drift with 4 bucket seats: an original concept
The choice of a five-door BMW E90 is not insignificant. This configuration allows the integration of four homologated bucket seats, a first in a drift project of this level.
The aim is twofold:
- To offer a high-performance car for CFD
- To enable passengers to enjoy the drifting experience at events throughout the year.
This BMW E90 will become a real tool for communicating and sharing drifting and Shiftech and Brothers Custom expertise.
Upcoming preparations for our Drift monster
The BMW E90 will be passing between the Chinon workshops of Brothers Custom, a benchmark in the preparation of competition vehicles, and our workshops in Tours.
Our mission: to transform the hull into a car fit for the 2026 CFD season.
Preparation of the BMW E90 completed and to come:
Body and structure preparation
- Complete removal of all original components
- Anti-corrosion treatment
- Installation of the custom roll cage made by AST Roll cage
- fender flares to accommodate running gear and wide-angle kit
Powertrain and transmission
- Preparation of the B58 engine: turbo(s), injection, cooling
- Reinforced transmission
- Reinforced differential and rear axle
Chassis and running gear
- Fully adjustable suspension
- Geometry optimised for drifting
- High-performance braking
- Hydraulic handbrake
Interior and equipment
- 4 bucket seats with harnesses
- Racing steering wheel and pedals
- Full instrumentation
The BMW E90 in the 2026 French Championship
This BMW E90 will not be a show car. It will be the official starter of the rounds of the 2026 French Drifting Championship, in the Pro category.
The winner of the Shiftech Xperience drift competition will receive :
- A turnkey car
- A full technical programme
- Support throughout the CFD season
