CFD 2026 - Round 1: Podium finishes in Val de Vienne to launch the Season

Shiftech cfd 2026 val de vienne samedi matin 3 2250

The FFSA 2026 French Drift Championship opened its hostilities on 11 and 12 April at the Circuit du Val de Vienne, in the Vienne region of France. Three days in all: a media day on Friday with influencers and journalists behind the scenes, then two days of competition in a back-to-school atmosphere, with changing weather conditions and an impressively dense field. For the Shiftech x Brothers Custom 37 team, this first event of the season ended with two riders on the podium.

The team's media profile was also high: the TV programme Automoto came to our stand to film the weekend behind the scenes, a fine acknowledgement of the work accomplished. Our merchandising stand was also a real hit with the public, with several items already virtually sold out by the end of the weekend.

Salim Karrouache, 2nd in Pro: a remarkable debut

Driving his BMW E90, Salim put in a solid and convincing first run. Despite mechanical problems during the weekend (a temperamental gearbox which required intervention between sessions and put the mechanics under pressure), the driver was able to cope with the constraints and maintain a high level of performance. The result: 2nd place in the Pro category behind Cristiano Silva, winner of the final. A championship debut that immediately confirms his potential in the category.

Sofiane Yazid, 3rd in Elite: in the big league

In the Elite category, Sofiane finished on the 3rd step of the podium. The Elite category delivered a particularly high level of competition throughout the weekend, with qualifiers contested on a wet track and close duels in the Top 32. Securing a place on the podium against the best drifters in the national championship is a performance that counts, and puts Sofiane on the list of drivers to watch this season.

Médéric Isker, a complicated weekend but a valid debut

For Médéric Isker, the day turned out differently. Hit by Ricardo Ribeiro during morning practice, he was unable to take part in the afternoon warm-up. The impact (which had no physical consequences) nevertheless disrupted his start on this circuit. He lost out in the Top 32, but the main thing is there: a first participation at this level is validated. The progression will be for Vesoul.

Great momentum for the future

Two podiums, two categories, an ultra-competitive field. This first weekend lays a solid foundation for Team Shiftech x Brothers Custom 37. The atmosphere in the paddock, the quality of the preparations and the level of competition in Round 1 confirm that the 2026 season promises to be a high intensity one. See you in Vesoul for round 2.
