"TO PREP OR NOT TO PREP? - We're optimising Vincent's 2.0-litre Fiat Talento
Welcome to another episode of"Prep or Not", where we talk directly to our customers to find out if reprogramming their vehicle's engine really makes a difference, doing everything we can to give our customers the best possible experience, with or without cameras. Today, Vincent entrusted us with his Fiat Talento 2.0 litre 145 bhp. A model that many of you will already be familiar with, ideal if you want to get an objective view, and to show just how much a simple map adjustment can transform the driving experience.
Introducing Vincent and his 2.0-litre Fiat Talento
Vincent, from Brittany, has replaced his old Renault Trafic 1.6 95 bhp, which was too limited for his daily use and family journeys, with this Fiat Talento 2.0 litre 145 bhp. With 70,000 km on the clock, it has already been fitted with a sport air filter, designed to boost performance and limit engine wear. Vincent has also customised his van with windscreens, stickers, tinted windows and blue LEDs, to combine style and practicality.
First run on the bench: the original results
To measure the performance of this Talento, we used a Rotronics synchronised 4-wheel drive dyno, a benchmark in the field for obtaining reliable and accurate figures. The vehicle was strapped in, with ABS and ESP deactivated in 'power bench' mode. It was then driven in 4th gear at 3,000 rpm, before dropping down to 1,000 rpm and pulling out all the stops. The results are revealing:

Vincent discovered, with a mixture of surprise and satisfaction, that his Talento produced even more than the 145 bhp announced by the manufacturer, a solid basis for the rest of the preparation.
Sport air filter: a real gain?
Vincent's sport air filter seems to provide a slight gain in flexibility, but according to our numerous tests, this is not systematic on all engines. Above all, this accessory has an impact on driving pleasure and feel at the wheel, without always significantly increasing raw power.
The test drive for Vincent's first opinion
After reprogramming the engine, Vincent went for a test drive to feel the difference. The transformation was immediate: much more torque from low revs onwards, a livelier throttle response and a driving pleasure that was immediately apparent. Even in 6th gear, the engine is more available, making motorway and mountain journeys much more comfortable. The gearbox remains unchanged, but optimised mapping unleashes the engine's full potential.
