Bosch MG1CS211: the entire VAG hybrid fleet is now reprogrammable
This is the most extensive update of the year for the Volkswagen Group’s electrified powertrains. The Bosch MG1CS211 control unit, which manages all the VAG Group’s 1.4 TSI e-HYBRID / GTE and 1.5 eTSI / eHybrid engines produced between 2019 and 2026, is now supported by Shiftech.
With a single protocol update, dozens of plug-in hybrid and mild-hybrid models can now be reprogrammed: the Golf GTE, Tiguan eTSI, Audi A3 TFSIe, Cupra Formentor e-HYBRID, Skoda Octavia, and many more. If you’ve been driving a VAG hybrid since 2019, your vehicle is very likely included.

What this actually means for your VAG hybrid
Until now, the VAG Group’s electrified powertrains had been one of the blind spots in reprogramming. The security architectures of these ECUs, specifically designed for hybrid powertrains, made read/write access impossible.
At Shiftech, we can now work on these ECUs thanks to full bench access, following a secure unlocking process (Mail-in Unlock).
What this means for the driver on a day-to-day basis: more torque available from low revs, immediate engine response where the factory ECU previously imposed power restrictions, and thermal/electrical transition management that is better calibrated to your driving profile.
Services available from Shiftech
For vehicles fitted with the MG1CS211, Shiftech offers three levels of tuning:
Stage 1: Engine map remapping
A purely software-based modification, with no mechanical alterations. The mapping is optimised for fuel injection control, ignition timing and thermal/electrical coordination, depending on the model.
| Stock engine | Power | Torque | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1.4 TSI eHybrid / GTE (130 ch / 200 Nm) | 130 ch → 175 ch (+45 ch) | 200 Nm → 300 Nm (+100 Nm) | €599 incl. VAT |
| 1.5 eTSI / eHybrid (150 ch / 250 Nm) | 150 ch → 175 ch (+25 ch) | 250 Nm → 300 Nm (+50 Nm) | €599 incl. VAT |
| 1.5 eTSI / eHybrid (204 ch / 250 Nm) | 204 ch → 230 ch (+26 ch) | 250 Nm → 300 Nm (+50 Nm) | €599 incl. VAT |
| 1.5 eTSI / eHybrid (272 ch / 350 Nm) | 272 ch → 300 ch (+28 ch) | 350 Nm → 400 Nm (+50 Nm) | €599 incl. VAT |
Price: €599 incl. VAT (excluding unlock)
E85 Flex Fuel Conversion: Ethanol Conversion
Map conversion for E85 ethanol fuel. No additional power gain, but significantly reduced fuel costs, particularly relevant for hybrids used intensively on a daily basis.
Stage E85 Flex+: Ethanol conversion + power gains
The combination of both: ethanol conversion and optimisation of the engine mapping to harness the potential of E85. Power gains equivalent to Stage 1 thermal tuning, with the economic benefits of ethanol.
Please note: the E85 Flex+ Stage is not available on all vehicles listed in the table below. Contact your Shiftech centre to confirm your model’s eligibility before proceeding.
Unlock cost: from €450 incl. VAT: charged once per ECU.

How does the procedure work at Shiftech?
On the MG1CS211, read/write access requires a two-step process:
- Mail-in Unlock (from €450 incl. VAT): your ECU is sent to the Autotuner team for secure unlocking. This step removes the manufacturer’s software protections specific to hybrid architectures. It is carried out only once per ECU.
- Bench Reprogramming at Shiftech: once unlocked, our technicians gain full read access to the map.
Each reprogramming is accompanied by a before-and-after power curve, provided upon completion of the work.
