June 2026 at Shiftech: a record month for ECU unlocking
June 2026 was a particularly busy month for Autotuner protocol updates. Within the space of a few weeks, three families of ECUs that had previously been locked or partially blocked became available for reprogramming at Shiftech, ranging from everyday diesel commercial vehicles to the most exclusive Ferraris on the market. Here is a summary of what has changed, and for which vehicles.
Bosch MG1CS002, MG1CS008 and MG1CS038
10 June – The VAG flagship range is unveiled: Audi RS6, Lamborghini, Porsche, Bentley
The most extensive update this month concerns the Bosch MG1CS002, MG1CS008 and MG1CS038 control units, which manage the V6 and V8 engines and the VAG Group’s latest hybrid powertrains. Until now, a large proportion of these vehicles were set to be restricted from 2022–2023 onwards.
The Audi RS6 C8 Performance is a good example of the scale of the performance boost: its 630 ch / 850 Nm version is boosted to 700 ch / 1000 Nm with a simple Stage 1 upgrade.
But the Audi is merely the tip of the iceberg in this update. Also included are:
- Lamborghini: Temérario (4.0 TFSI Hybrid), Revuelto (V12 HPEV), Urus SE
- Porsche: Cayenne, Macan, Panamera (2.9 V6, 4.0 V8 Turbo/E-Hybrid)
- Bentley: Continental GT/GTC, Bentayga (V6 Hybrid, V8 Turbo)

Bosch MG1CS039
15 June – The most exclusive Ferraris can now be reprogrammed
The Bosch MG1CS039 ECU, fitted to Ferrari’s top-of-the-range models, was previously protected to such an extent that any modification was impossible. The update changes this for four models:
- Ferrari Purosangue (naturally aspirated V12): up to +75 ch in Stage 2
- Ferrari 12 Cilindri (naturally aspirated V12): up to +70 ch in Stage 2
- Ferrari 296 GTB (V6 PHEV): up to +75 ch in Stage 2
- Ferrari F80 (V6 PHEV): up to +150 ch in Stage 2
Stage 1, Stage 2 and E85 ethanol conversion are available on all four models, carried out via bench tuning after the ECU has been unlocked.

Bosch MD1CS004 and MD1CS104
24 June – Almost all VAG 2.0 TDI diesel models have had their restrictions lifted; the Transporter T6.1 is finally eligible
The Bosch MD1CS004 and MD1CS104 control units, which cover virtually the entire fleet of 2.0 TDI diesel vehicles from the VAG Group dating from 2020–2021. The MD1CS104, the commercial vehicle variant, is specifically designed for the Transporter T6.1, which until now has been impossible to remap.
On the Transporter T6.1 2.0 TDI 110 ch, Stage 1 tuning delivers up to +80 ch and +170 Nm. The 150 ch and 204 ch variants are also covered.
As for passenger cars, the update covers a wide range of models: Audi (A3 to Q5), Golf, Passat, Tiguan, Arteon, T-Roc, as well as Cupra, Seat, Skoda and certain Ford models.

Bosch MG1CS031 and MG1CS142
30 June – The Polo GTI joins the list; MG1CS031 and MG1CS142 ECUs are now fully unlocked
To round off the month, the Bosch MG1CS031 and MG1CS142 ECUs, which have been controlling virtually all of the VAG Group’s 2.0 TSI / 2.0 TFSI engines since 2017, are now supported regardless of version. Until now, access depended on the exact ECU part number a distinction invisible to the owner which left some vehicles blocked for no apparent reason.
The Polo GTI 2.0 TSI OPF 207 ch is a good example of this unlocking: Stage 1, Stage 2 and ethanol conversion are now available, with gains of up to +63 ch and +100 Nm in Stage 2. The modification requires the ECU to be unlocked.
The update also benefits the entire VAG range fitted with this engine: Audi (A1 to TT), Golf 8, Tiguan, Passat, Arteon, T-Roc, as well as Cupra, Seat and Skoda.
