Mercedes from A to Z: three new protocols unlocked at Shiftech
From the A-Class compacts to the Maybach SL 680’s twin-turbo V8, in a single wave of updates, Shiftech has just made engine remapping available for virtually the entire modern Mercedes range.
Three separate ECUs, three engine families, one single procedure. Here’s what’s changing for your Mercedes.

The 4.0T twin-turbo V8 makes its debut: AMG GT, SL, S and Maybach
Engine: Bosch MG1CP003
This is the most exclusive ECU in this series. The MG1CP003 powers the 4.0L twin-turbo V8 in the most extreme Mercedes-AMG models, and is now available from Shiftech.
This ECU covers everything from the classic V8 (55 AMG, 63 AMG, 63 AMG Pro) as well as the E-Performance hybrid powertrains delivering over 800 chevaux in the 63 AMG S models. And it’s not limited to pure AMG models: the Mercedes S 580 and the Maybach SL 680 are also among the models covered.
Models covered:
| Model | Years | Engine variants |
|---|---|---|
| Maybach SL | 2025 | 680 |
| Mercedes-AMG GT | 2023 | 55 AMG / 63 AMG / 63 AMG Pro / 63 AMG S E-Performance |
| Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door | 2018 | 55 AMG / 63 AMG / 63 AMG Pro / 63 AMG S E-Performance |
| Mercedes-AMG SL | 2021 | 55 AMG / 63 AMG |
| Mercedes S-Class | 2021 | S 580 / S 63 AMG S E-Performance |
The new generation of AMG 2.0T models: C 43, C 63 S, GLC 43, GLC 63 S
Calculator: Bosch MG1CP004
Gone are the V8s in these segments; Mercedes-AMG has switched to a 2.0T with an electric turbocharger, paired with a mild-hybrid system (43 AMG) or a plug-in hybrid system delivering over 680 chevaux (63 AMG S E-Performance). This engine is derived directly from Formula 1 and required a completely new approach to make it accessible.
With the MG1CP004, Shiftech is making these engines accessible for the first time.
Models affected:
| Model | Years | Engine variants |
|---|---|---|
| Mercedes-AMG C W206 | 2021 | C 43 AMG / C 63 AMG S E-Performance |

Electrified compact cars: A-Class, B-Class, CLA, GLA, GLB
On-board computers: Bosch MG1CP777 & MG1CS701
The Mercedes compact range has transitioned to mild hybrid (MHEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) architectures. This electrification has required two new control units: the MG1CP777 for the 2.0T and the MG1CS701 for the 1.3T, both featuring factory-fitted protection systems that are among the most complex on the market.
Both are now available from Shiftech.

Four control units, one unlocking procedure
At Shiftech, this lock is now removed via a two-step process:
-
Remote unlocking (Unlock, from €450): your ECU is sent to us to remove the manufacturer’s software protection. This step is carried out only once per ECU.
-
Bench reprogramming at Shiftech: once unlocked, our technicians work directly on the map on a dynamometer. The original map is backed up before any modifications are made. You can revert to the original settings at any time within 5 years of your visit to Shiftech.
