Porsche 992 GT3 RS: the truth about its power revealed on the power bench
Our new show car, the Porsche 992 GT3 RS, is turning heads... and not just a little! But getting hold of it was no mean feat. Despite being in existence for three years, the beauty was virtually impossible to find in configuration. Having had some great adventures with our 992 GT3 Shark Blue, we had to set our sights higher. Problem: the order forms were starting at 70,000 euros just for the right to configure the car. Yes, you read that right, 70,000 euros... just to sign the paper! Luckily, Porsche Tours offered us a golden opportunity. We didn't hesitate for a second.

A fine-tuned configuration
Black was the obvious choice to stay true to Shiftech's identity. A sober and effective choice, especially when you consider that a PTS (Paint To Sample) colour would have cost nearly 15,000 euros... for black! Clearly, we didn't see the point in investing so much just for this option.
We found it hard to pass up the Weissach Pack... On the menu: carbon bonnet and seats, a few adjustments under the chassis and some well thought-out details. Sure, it doesn't turn the car into a rocket like the Manthey Racing pack, but it does set the scene.
Styling-wise, we've pulled out all the stops: pyro red magnesium wheels, anodised details, red callipers, and black interior with red stitching. The Bose system is there for long trips, so you don't have to sacrifice comfort.
The result? A configuration that looks just like us, for a final price flirting with 380,000 euros, including deductible tax. Yes, it stings... but what a pleasure!

On the track: impressive handling
4.0 litres, a claimed 525bhp, 467Nm of torque and... an F1-style DRS to adjust theaerodynamic downforce. That's the menu! After running in the car to the letter and a few laps around the Nürburgring, the car impressed. Easy, reassuring and devilishly efficient in corners. Enough to put a smile on your face at every turn.

PPF: protect to benefit
Before unleashing the cavalry, it was time to prepare the beauty. We headed for Tours, to our Shiftech centre. In two and a half days, the 992 was protected from top to bottom thanks to the pre-cut system. The ideal way to take on the track with peace of mind. Once the 1,500 km running-in period was over, the car was serviced by Porsche and given the green light to have fun!

The power bench: unfiltered verdict
The moment of truth! The car is strapped in, the dyno set to 9500 rpm (no less) and the suspense is at its height. So how much is this GT3 RS really worth?
Announced by Porsche | Measured on the dyno | |
Power | 525bhp | 508 bhp |
Torque | 467 Nm | 474 Nm |
Surprise! Fifteen horsepower less than expected, but a little more torque. Don't panic: for a naturally-aspirated engine, this is perfectly normal. The GT3 RS needs a lot of air to perform at its best, and that's not always easy on the bench. On the track, on the other hand, the aero makes all the difference. That's where it shows who's boss.

What about magnetic pallets?
It's impossible to miss this detail that makes all the difference. Our GT3 RS is fitted with magnetic steering wheel paddles, which are much more pleasant than those on the GT3. The feedback is crisp, precise and gives a real feeling of control at every gear change. The good news is that this service is available here! If you own a GT3 and would like to take advantage of these magnetic paddles, our Shiftech centres can install them for you. A real bonus to make every gear change even more enjoyable.
What's next? It promises!
The story doesn't end there. We're already thinking of fitting an exhaust system to give the beast a bit more character and wake it up. Perhaps even that of our previous 992 GT3. One thing's for sure: the GT3 RS still has a lot to offer. And we can't wait to enjoy it... always with a smile!
And as always,
