Fit tinted windows

Why tint your car windows?

Tinted windows are no longer just a cosmetic feature. They provide genuine protection for you, your passengers and your car’s interior.

Maximum sun protection. Our sun films blockup to 99 per cent of harmfulUV rays. Prolonged exposure to UV rays without protection accelerates the ageing of seats, the dashboard and interior plastics. It also poses a risk to skin health during long journeys, particularly for children and regular passengers.

Reduced heat in the passenger compartment. By filteringout the sun’s infrared rays, the window film maintains a more comfortable temperature inside the vehicle, even in high heat. Less use of air conditioning means lower fuel consumption.

Burglary protection. Our films mechanically reinforce the glass and significantly delay breakage in the event of an attempted break-in. In the event of an accident, the film holds the shards in place and protects occupants from flying glass.

Privacy and visual comfort. Tinted windows reduce glare from the sun and headlights, improve overall visibility and shield the passenger compartment from prying eyes.

Our colours

Colours available at the Shiftech Belgium centre

We offer several levels of tinting suited to every purpose and every window position, in strict compliance with Belgian regulations.

Rear sidewindows and rear window. Belgian legislation imposes no restrictions on tint levels for the rear side windows and rear window, provided that the film’s reflectivity does not exceed 15 per cent and that the vehicle is fitted with fully functional exterior mirrors on both sides. You are free to choose: a light tint for a discreet look, a medium tint for a good balance between style and visibility, or a dark tint for maximum privacy and optimal heat protection.

Front windows. Belgian regulations are strict on this point: no tinted film may be applied to the front side windows. A minimum of 70 per cent Visible Light Transmission (VLT) is required, and Belgian vehicle inspection centres will systematically reject any non-compliant film on these surfaces. Our technicians will always inform you of this requirement when you arrive at the centre and will guide you towards the solutions best suited to your situation.

To find out everything you need to know about the regulations, the permitted percentages and special cases, please consult our comprehensive guide to tinted windows.

MOT test

Tinted windows and roadworthiness tests in Belgium

This is one of the first questions our customers ask: do tinted windows pass the Belgian roadworthiness test?

Yes, provided they comply with current regulations. In Belgium, roadworthiness inspectors check the transparency of the front windows using a photometer. Any front windscreen with a light transmission value (TLV) below 70 per cent is deemed non-compliant, resulting in a fail and requiring a re-inspection once the vehicle has been brought into compliance. Reflective or mirror-effect films are prohibited on all windows.

At Shiftech Belgium, we only fit films that are type-approved and comply with Belgian regulations. Before any work is carried out, we go through the full regulatory requirements with the customer to ensure the installation is 100% legal and will pass the roadworthiness test.
