Fit tinted windows
Why tint your car windows?
Tinted windows are no longer just a styling feature. They provide genuine protection for you, your passengers and your car’s interior.
Maximum sun protection. Our sun films block up to 99 per cent of harmful UV rays. Prolonged exposure to UV rays without protection accelerates the ageing of seats, the dashboard and interior plastics. It also poses risks to skin health during long journeys, particularly for children and regular passengers.
Reduced heat in the passenger compartment. By filteringout the sun’s infrared rays, the window film maintains a more comfortable temperature inside the vehicle, even in hot weather. Less use of air conditioning means lower fuel consumption.
Burglary protection. Our films mechanically reinforce the glass and significantly delay breakage in the event of an attempted break-in. In the event of an accident, the film holds the glass together and protects occupants from flying shards.
Privacy and visual comfort. Tinted windows reduce glare from the sun and headlights, improve overall visibility and protect the passenger compartment from prying eyes.

Our colours
Colours available at the Shiftech centre in Strasbourg
We offer several levels of tinting suitable for every use and every window position, expressed as TLV (Visible Light Transmission):
Legal tint for front windows (minimum 70% VLT). In accordance with Decree No. 2016-448, the driver’s and passenger’s front windows must allow at least 70 per cent of visible light to pass through. We offer an approved tint specially designed for front windows, which provides a slight reduction in glare whilst remaining 100% compliant with regulations.
Rear side and rear window tinting. For the rear side windows and the rear window, there is no TLV limit. You can choose a darker tint according to your preferences: a light tint for a subtle effect, a medium tint for a good balance between style and visibility, or a dark tint for maximum privacy and optimal heat protection.
Our technicians will advise you on the most suitable tint level for your vehicle and your needs when you arrive at the centre. To find out everything you need to know about the regulations, authorised percentages and special cases (exemptions, manufacturer-fitted windows), read our article: ‘Window Tinting in 19 Questions – Everything You Need to Know!’.

MOT test
Tinted windows and roadworthiness test
This is one of the first questions our customers ask: do tinted windows pass the MOT test?
Yes, provided that the front windows comply with the Visible Light Transmission (VLT) standard set at a minimum of 70 per cent by Decree No. 2016-448 of 13 April 2016. The roadworthiness test centre checks the transparency of the front windows using a tint meter. If the transparency is insufficient, the vehicle may be required to return for a re-test.
At Shiftech Strasbourg, all our installations are guaranteed to comply with roadworthiness testing requirements. We only use approved films and never apply non-compliant tinting to the front windows without explicitly informing you. Rear windows are not subject to this VLT requirement.
