Médéric finally tests his Golf III VR6!

In previous episodes, the Shiftech team undertook an ambitious project: to bring a Golf III VR6 back to life as a gift for Médéric.

In the first episode, the Shiftech team surprises Médéric with a Golf 3 VR6, an iconic model from his youth. Nicolas explains the process of researching, restoring and optimising the car, before revealing it to Médéric in an emotional moment.

In episode two, the focus was on optimising the car's performance. The team worked on the exhaust system, and the discs and brake pads were also changed. the suspensions were also changed to improve the car's handling.

The third episode was devoted to the aesthetic side of the bodywork, with polishing stages to restore shine, erase defects as far as possible and give the colour depth. A layer of ceramic treatment was then applied to enhance protection and shine and make maintenance easier.

During this project, the team had to overcome several challenges. One of the main ones was to retrace the car's history, in particular to check whether it had been in an accident or whether certain parts had been replaced or repainted. This research raised questions about the origin of certain parts, which is very important if the restoration is to be as close to the original as possible. Finding replacement parts for the Golf III VR6 was also complicated by their rarity, forcing the team to be creative. In the end, thanks to CarVertical, they were able to acquire a sound vehicle, even if some parts are not original.

Médéric took to the road in the Golf III VR6 and instantly rediscovered the driving sensations of yesteryear. He was delighted to note that the car's handling remained sound and that its roadholding was very good for a vehicle of that era, giving him the pleasure of being able to drive this youthful model again.
