MOTORBIKE AT €7,000 VS €50,000!

Today, we're changing our routine a little by talking to you about the world of motorbikes. We're off to our friends at Moto Move Limoges to get Augustin's Suzuki GSX-R ready for the track, but that's not all...

Médéric is going to treat lovers of Italian racing bikes to an exceptional model from Ducati, the Panigale V4 R SP2, of which only 500 are produced worldwide. You'll see that Ducati Limoges (in its Groupe Moto Move Limoges) has done its utmost to find this track-dedicated beauty.

Track preparation for the GSX-R

Preparation of the GSX-R begins with a needs assessment with Alex, Ducati Limoges sales manager. The aim of this track preparation is to keep to a tight budget, because this is still an affordable bike, so there's no need to go overboard. In the event of a crash or slip, it's better to break the protectors than to damage parts such as the frame and swingarm, so overall protection.

Next, the rear-view mirrors have been removed and the black bubble replaced by a transparent one, because on the track you generally lie behind to get the best possible aero, so you need perfect visibility.

A very important point that doesn't concern this bike because it doesn't have it, but Alex recommends that if you're going to ride on the track you remove the ABS, which remains dangerous on the track. Its function is to brake hard straight away, which makes the bike pull straight on the track. it should therefore be removed, for the sake of your safety and lap times.

The current levers will also be changed, as they are not suitable for track use and are therefore dangerous. At the same time, the hoses will be replaced by new, reinforced and higher-performance aviation hoses.

The exhaust system fitted to the bike is an Akrapovic copy (the bike was already fitted when Augustin bought it), so it will have to be changed to ensure thatdecibels are kept to a minimum on the track. This will inevitably be followed by an adapted mapping to boost the machine.

To continue on the protection front, we'll be adding a crankcase protector to limit damage in the event of slipping. The road tyres will also be changed for semi-slicks or even slicks to improve grip and guarantee safety and performance.

As for the discs and brake pads, the original discs will remain until the end of their life, when they will be replaced. The brake pads will be replaced by semi-racing ones, which are better suited to the needs of the riders than racing ones, as they will be harder to warm up and will therefore degrade more quickly.

The transmission remains original for the time being. Alex advises us to do our first track days as such and then, depending on how we feel and what we need, make modifications according to our feedback. This is clearly one of the strengths of Moto Move Limoges, preparing the bike for the track according to the type of riding and the rider's level.

Now that we've finished with the Suzuki GSX-R's track preparation, let's move on to the dealership section and take a look at the owner.
