July 2026 at Shiftech: 6 families of control units unlocked
From VAG hybrids to the most exclusive BMW V8s, including Audi diesels, the entire modern Mercedes range and the latest Audi Sport models, July 2026 was the busiest month since the launch of Shiftech’s Mail-in Unlock protocols. Six families of ECUs unlocked, with dozens of models becoming accessible for the first time.

Bosch MG1CS211
2 July – VAG hybrids: Golf GTE, Tiguan eTSI, Audi A3, Cupra, Škoda...
The Bosch MG1CS211 control unit manages all 1.4 TSI e-HYBRID / GTE and 1.5 eTSI / eHybrid engines produced by the VAG Group between 2019 and 2026. With a single update, dozens of plug-in hybrid and mild-hybrid models become reprogrammable: the Golf GTE, Tiguan eTSI, Audi A3 TFSIe, Cupra Formentor, Škoda Octavia and many others.
Three tuning levels are available: Stage 1 (from €599 incl. VAT, excluding unlock), E85 Flex Fuel and E85 Flex+. Unlock from €450 incl. VAT, charged as a one-off fee.
Bosch MD1CS014 and MD1CS064
7 July – Audi V6 TDI: A4 45 TDI +129 ch, S4, SQ5, S6, S7
The Bosch MD1CS014 ECU has just been tuned – this is the most eagerly awaited tuning upgrade for the Audi diesel range in several years. An A4 45 TDI with a factory output of 231 ch is boosted to 360 ch and 730 Nm in Stage 1 (€699 incl. VAT). On the S4 and SQ5 models with 347 ch, Stage 1 delivers 390 ch / 780 Nm (€790 incl. VAT).
The update covers a wide range of models: the Audi A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, Q5, Q7, Q8, S4, S5, S6, S7, SQ5 and the Touareg.
Bosch MG1CP003 / MG1CP004 / MG1CP777 / MG1CS701
15 July – Mercedes from A to Z: AMG GT V8, C 63, A-Class, CLA, GLA
Three ECUs unlocked in a single release, covering virtually the entire modern Mercedes range:
- MG1CP003: the 4.0T twin-turbo V8: AMG GT 55/63/63 S E-Performance, SL 55/63, S 580, Maybach SL 680
- MG1CP004: the new-generation 2.0T AMG: C 43, C 63 AMG S E-Performance, GLC 43, GLC 63 AMG S, SL 43, GT 43
- MG1CP777 / MG1CS701: electrified compact models: A-Class, B-Class, CLA, GLA, GLB (180 to 250e MHEV/PHEV, 35 AMG)
Bosch MG1CS221
21 July – BMW 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8: M5 G90, XM, X5 M, Range Rover, Defender OCTA
The Bosch MG1CS221 DME9 ECU powers the most powerful V8 engines from BMW and Land Rover. With this update, models that were previously unavailable are now having their maps unlocked at Shiftech — with impressive performance gains:
- BMW M5 G90 (727 ch PHEV) → 850 ch / 1,100 Nm in Stage 1
- BMW XM / XM Red Label (653–738 ch) → 850 ch / 1,100 Nm in Stage 1
- BMW X5 M / X6 M (625 ch) → 700 ch / 850 Nm in Stage 1
- Range Rover / Defender OCTA (530–635 ch) → 680 ch / 920 Nm in Stage 1
⚠️ These vehicles are fitted with two ECUs; the unlock must be carried out on each of them (from €450 incl. VAT per ECU).
Bosch MD1CS015 and MD1CS115
22 July – BMW MHEV diesel models: 5 Series, X5, X7, Mini Countryman
The Bosch MD1CS015 and MD1CS115 DDE9 control units have been used to control virtually all of the BMW Group’s mild-hybrid diesel engines since 2022, ranging from the 4-cylinder B47 engines (18d, 20d, 23d) to the 6-cylinder B57 engines (30d, 40d). The 2024 BMW 5 Series G60, X5, X6, X7, 2 Series Active Tourer and Mini Countryman are now covered.
This update affects a huge proportion of recent BMW diesel sales in Europe, making it one of the largest recalls in terms of the number of vehicles involved.
Bosch MG1CS202 and MG1CS203
24 July – Audi S5, SQ5, RS5 2025–2026: V6 TFSI and PHE
To round off this exceptional month, the latest Audi Sport models from the 2025 and 2026 model years are now reprogrammable.
The MG1CS202 covers the 2025 S5 and the 2026 SQ5 (3.0 TFSI V6). The MG1CS203 is designed for the 2026 RS5, a PHEV model with 639 ch / 825 Nm, which can be boosted to 730 ch and 930 Nm in Stage 2 (€1,199 incl. VAT).
